| Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) | ||

In 1996 Midwest Ambulance Service saw a major need to provide safety solutions and began meeting that need with the inception of Midwest Voice of Help. We entered into a relationship with AMAC to give the people of Iowa a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) monitored by the Midwest Ambulance Service communication center in Des Moines. These PERS units are easy to use and bring a sense of well being to your home.
The unit consists of a two-way voice console that connects to an existing phone line in the home and a lightweight personal activator. The personal activator comes in four different styles: as a necklace, wristband, belt clip, or can be wall mounted.
If you need assistance just press the button on your personal activator and your unit will automatically dial our communication center in Des Moines. Within seconds an operator from our communication center will speak to you over the two-way voice console allowing you to tell them what is wrong. The operator then will send the appropriate help. Whether you just need a friend to come help you up off the floor or need an ambulance we will get the right help to you when you need it the most.
When you enroll with Midwest Voice of Help a personalized file is created for our communication center. When you do need help, your personal and medical information, list of responders, emergency personnel, and directives you want us to follow are displayed at the operator's terminal. Even if the operator cannot hear you or you cannot speak, our communication center knows who you are and who to contact to get you the help you need.
There is special equipment available with these units. A smoke detector, silent panic button, and an activator for individuals with special needs are available. This equipment will create a better sense of security in your home. For more information please view the contact information to the left. |
